The photos are done exceptionally well and since they’re nice and close-up, everything looks even better! I’ll definitely keep visiting.

  • 2 Elizabeth M. // Oct 21, 2008 at 8:45 pm

    I blogged about this here

This is a very nice giveaway! Make sure you add somewhere up there something about how these apple things work for you, or you might get deleted : ). Have a wonderful day!

  • 6 TracyB // Oct 22, 2008 at 8:37 am

I adore pottery with the faces, and your face jugs are beautiful! I have never seen anything like the apple bakers, and would love the addition to my (usable) pottery collection!

  • 7 Tracye // Oct 22, 2008 at 9:20 am

    Wow! You are really talented!

But it’s just not fair to post such delicious-sounding recipes (with pictures! the torture!) when I don’t have any of these bakers yet!

    I’m dying to taste these!

I love your vases, too. You take great photos of your work.

  • 8 Joie at Canned Laughter // Oct 22, 2008 at 9:27 am

I like the site, but I would love to see a statement about whether the bakers (or any future items that touch food) are non-toxic/lead free. love your work! Found you via Rocks In My Dryer. Glad I did!

  • 9 Jennifer // Oct 22, 2008 at 9:33 am

I love what I see. I will be back.

  • 10 admin // Oct 22, 2008 at 9:35 am

    Thanks Joie.

Yes, all of my items are lead free and non-toxic.

They are also microwaveable and dishwasher safe.

  • 15 Lisa // Oct 22, 2008 at 2:43 pm

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. The apple bakers are very cool! We just got finished processing 250 pounds of apples from our two trees. I would have enjoyed useing these bakers for some variety.

  • 16 Stacey Fuller // Oct 22, 2008 at 2:55 pm

Mmmm, apples and cinnamon baking in the oven…doesn’t get much better than that! Love the pottery…

  • 17 Kelly Mor // Oct 22, 2008 at 3:24 pm

I was coming to ask about the finish as well! I was all over the site trying to find info about it. Glad to hear that it’s safe. :-) Not that you’d think it would be made UNsafe, but nowadays you can’t just assume anything like that, unfortunately. :-( My preschool-aged son, btw, loves the pictures of your face pottery! He thinks they’re funny faces. :-)

Wow….you have some wonderful talent and pottery. Love the apple bakers. Never heard of them before, but love the idea. Only criticism is that they look too pretty to actually use :)

  • 24 admin // Oct 23, 2008 at 8:54 am

If you’re afraid to use the pretty ones, I could try to make some ugly ones for you. ;-)

Yes. I make them myself and I use them too.

Some of my older posts show recipes and usage.

  • 29 Thorne // Oct 24, 2008 at 1:24 am

Well, I just found your blog via Thursday Thirteen, but I’ve looked around a bit and have a couple of observations for ya.
*Great photos- Crisp, clear images, good color and use of light.
*Nice layout- Simple and straightforward. Easy to navigate.
*Good content, although my potter’s sopul might like to see more in depth info, most folks probably wouldn’t, so I think you’re doing great. I like your friendly style, and your marketing approach is gentle; which is nice.

  • 30 Thorne // Oct 24, 2008 at 1:51 am

(aww “sopul” = soul. That’s what I get for late night typing and not proofing :-( )
Blogged your raffle at Thorne’s World

Do I get extra chances if I post it on some of my other blogs??
(I am so NOT giving these away if I win them. I will, however, make baked apples for all my holiday guests!)

  • 31 Keri // Oct 24, 2008 at 2:23 pm

New to the site. Nice work.

  • 32 Thorne // Oct 24, 2008 at 6:59 pm

Ok Mr. Potterman! I’m up again at my Tattoo blog Thorne’s Ink
and also at my Tattoo Tuesday Blog. I’ve been off blogging for awhile, so these 2 aren’t getting as many hits as they used to. I won’t blame you if you don’t wanna give me 3 chances each on them.
Now Imma go over to facebook, technorati and my LJ and hook you up.
Can you tell I really want those pots? Haha! (If I weren’t so broke, I’d buy them. But business has been slow.)
Besides, I’ve been trying to do this whole webmarketing and making money online so long, I love the chance to help out a fellow artist. (And potters have a special place in my heart!)
So… glaze -wise. Do you ever use “Tutti- Fruity” for Raku?? I LOVE that glaze!! And how about a nice copper carb wash applied to a pot or even a piece of clay (with a bit of salt pressed in) so that it flashes onto the surrounding pots?? Ever play with “Ukar”?? LOL Paul Soldner’s low fire salt technique? Too much fun!

  • 33 Sallie Anderson // Oct 25, 2008 at 2:48 pm

Hello, Mr. Laney — I have run across your giveaway on two blogs and had to make sure I checked you. I love pottery!! Your raku pottery is beautiful and reminds me of much of the pottery we saw when we lived in Okinawa Japan.

    Great work!!
    God bless,

  • 34 tricia // Oct 25, 2008 at 3:39 pm

I love these..and blogged about them here:

  • 42 Jane M. // Oct 26, 2008 at 10:09 pm

Beautiful pottery! God has blessed you with an awesome talent, as shown on the pages of your site. Thanks for the opportunity!

  • 43 admin // Oct 27, 2008 at 8:09 am

Thanks for all the links. I appreciate it.

My Raku experience is unfortunately limited. I am on the cusp of building my first Kiln now. I have seen Tutti Fruitti and it looks great.

My Raku work was mostly done with Harry Hearne of Turning Point Studio in Brasstown, NC. And at the John C. Campbell Folk school. We used Creepy Crawly and blue dolphin a lot. White Crackle is also always fun to watch.

You’ve got 10 entries in the giveaway. Good luck!

You are so talented! The apple bakers are absolutely brilliant! If I win, I am buying four more so that I have a set big enough for my large family!

  • 252 Beatrice // Oct 29, 2008 at 1:30 pm

I just came by because of the Bloggy Carnival, and I’m loving your work! I have a particular fondness for pottery. I really like your work, and the colors are beautiful. I love pitchers–do any of those?

The pictures showcasing your work are well-done. I like the color scheme, personally. I do agree with the lead-free/dishwasher/microwave safe commenter. I like the schedule along the side, too.

    Lovely work. I’ll be back!

  • 253 Danielle W // Oct 29, 2008 at 1:34 pm

I love the smell of apple pie baking and I imagine theses have a similar smell w/o all the fuss.
Thanks for the chance to win a set!
I found your site through another woman’s blog so it looks like your idea to get the word out is working. If I had a blog I would certainly post about this!
